Family policies
What families ask us before a child starts.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
A child with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home and returns after a full day of being well. If a child becomes ill at school, we call you right away and ask you to come promptly, and a guide stays with the child until you arrive.
Drop-off and pickup
Mornings end at 12:15 p.m. and the school day at 3:00 p.m. We release a child only to the adults on your pickup list, and we ask for ID at the door until we know you. Tell us ahead of time when someone new is coming.
Late pickup
The farmhouse doors close at 3:30 p.m. If you are running late, call or text the school so a guide can stay with your child. We talk with families about repeated late pickups, and the enrollment agreement says what follows.
Meals, snacks and allergies
On school days, families send a lunch and a water bottle. Children prepare a snack of fruit, vegetables and crackers in the room each morning. Tell us about allergies at the tour; we ask privately once you enroll. We ask families not to send nuts.
What to wear and bring
Send clothes your child can manage alone and that can get dirty, shoes that stay on for the garden, and a spare set in a labeled bag. Indoor shoes stay at school, and boots wait by the door.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for the usual holidays, for a break at the end of December and for a week in the spring, and we share the full list when the year begins. If weather closes the school, we email and text families early in the morning.
Leaving the program
We ask for a month's notice before a child leaves, so we can offer the place to a family on the waitlist. The enrollment agreement has the details.
